As you may be aware, the Governor has proposed substantial cuts in the State education budget which will seriously impact California's schools -- including all Mill Valley schools. The Marin County PTA, in conjunction with the State PTA, is recommending that parents, grandparents, and concerned members of the community write to our elected officials objecting to these proposed cuts. The County PTA has prepared model letters with contact information (below) which you may use, or modify, if you would like to write a letter.

For the 2007 to 2008 school year, we are pleased to announce that Mill Valley is the pilot school district in Marin County for an expanded SchoolPool program from Safe Routes to Schools. The SchoolPool program connects families who wish to share in transporting their children to school by walking, biking or carpooling together. The Mill Valley School District SchoolPool Neighborhood Map was developed for the use of school families to find other interested families in their neighborhoods for “SchoolPooling” to school.

The Upper Yard playground was completed this week and is being enjoyed by many students. Thanks to all who contributed to the funding of this project. See Principal McDonough's website for a slideshow of the playground.

The mosaic mural project at Old Mill's amphitheater can be seen above. Thanks to the Old Mill students and families and especially Kidserve artist Josef Norris for this beautiful piece of art. It Takes a Village is a support group for parents of Mill Valley School District (K-8) students with learning challenges. It is also a Special Education PTA (SEPTA) that participates in Mill Valley’s PTA council.
